National Sibling Day – April 10, 2019

Every woman needs a sister and I’m lucky enough to have two. So, on this National Sibling Day, I want to give a shout out to my two siblings. You guys made growing up fun and make adulting tolerable.

No Housework Day – April 7, 2019

On the scale of obscure holidays, I love this one. It should be a national holiday complete with time off and freaking greeting cards. Who wouldn’t love a day off NOT to do housework?

But I guess you can technically do this any old day you want. In fact, I did this yesterday.

Today I am official though. Happy No Housework Day to everyone!

How do you plan to spend your housework free day?

International Fun At Work Day

  • What I’m Reading: What Doesn’t Kill You Makes You Blacker by Damon Young
  • What I’m Listening To: You by Nicole Bus

I do not recognize April Fool’s Day. But I do recognize International Fun at Work Day. I plan to work on making my dreams work by editing an article I wrote for a magazine. What do you do and how do you make it fun?

Playoffs? We Talking About the Playoffs?

Kobe Bryant’s not walking through that door!

If you’re talking about the NBA Playoffs and the Los Angeles Lakers, the answer is a resounding “Nope”.

I know I’m in the minority here, but I wasn’t a big proponent of the Lakers signing LeBron James. I know he’s arguably the best player in the NBA. But I wanted the Lakers to let the young players grow. Show patience and add a free agent or two without sacrificing the young core. Of course, Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka had other ideas.

What do I know? I’ve only been a fan of the NBA and the Lakers since my Dad introduced me to the team back in the ’80s. I grew up on the Showtime Lakers. Cheered during the Kobe and Shaq years. LA is used to winning teams.  It’s hard for me to watch my once beloved team being mismanaged like this.

All good things come to an end and it was time to rebuild.  However, getting LeBron changes the dynamic of the team. Maybe that’s a good thing.

Playoffs? Not this year.

What do you think the Lakers should do? Trade the young players? Pursue Anthony Davis and other free agents? Fire the coach?

Shout out in the comment section.

Game of Thrones – I’m Ready

What I’m Reading: Slaves of Heaven by Naleighna Kai
What I’m Listening To: Worthy – India.Arie

Yes, Winter is Here!

After a long wait, the Season Premiere of Games of Thrones will arrive April 14th. It’s been a long time, they shouldn’t have left us hanging but I’m ready for the conclusion to the series. I have questions/thoughts:

  1. How does Jon react to the news that he is a Targaryen? And how does he react to learning he sexed his auntie?
  2. Does Daenerys still feel she is the rightful ruler of the Seven Kingdoms after learning Jon is a Targaryen?
  3. Is Arya still a badass? I love Arya and I’m nervous about her running from something or someone in the trailer.
  4. I want Missandei and Grey Worm to be together in the end. They are so freaking cute.
  5. Did Jaime really leave Cersi to honor his pledge to fight? Whose side is he on?
  6. Why was Tyrion looking concerned about Jon tipping to Daenerys’ room? What is he worried about?
  7. Will Tormund have time to pursue Brienne before all hell breaks loose? Does Brienne get with Jaime?
  8. Does Cersei die? I hope she dies.
  9. Who will kill the Night King? Whoever kills him will probably die.
  10. Who will be alive in the end? I’m rooting for Daenerys, Jon, Tyrion, Arya, Missandei, Grey Worm, Samwell & Gilly and Varys.
  11. Jorah, Jaime, Brienne and Theon should go out as heroes.

What are your thoughts? Who do want to survive the Game of Thrones?

10 Reasons I Love “The Hitman’s Bodyguard”

This movie came out in 2017 but I didn’t see it until this year on cable. I’ve seen it about 10 times and love it. Here are the 10 reasons this movie is my favorite.

  1. Samuel L. Jackson – any movie with Samuel L. is made better by his presence.
  2. Ryan Reynolds – Deadpool in a suit.
  3. The Premise – The thought of a hitman needing a bodyguard is hilarious to me.
  4. The “seat belt” rule – Watch the movie. You’ll get it.
  5. Salma Hayek – Badass
  6. The inside “mole” that you see coming but works anyway.
  7. The road trip and the car chases.
  8. Triple A rated – Seriously, watch the movie. You’ll get it.
  9. The “plethora” use of the word – muthaf**********
  10. Samuel L. “Muthaf***” Jackson

Bonus:  “When life gives you shit, you make kool-aid.” – Life advice.
