(This is a new series of post where I share the music that I grew up listening to.)
Every generation thinks the music of their youth is better than the what’s being played today. In my case, it is actually true. Let me present, Michael Jackson vs. Prince.
The 80’s gave us two of the greatest musical artist ever in their prime. Michael Jackson and Prince both released their classic albums in 1982 and 1984, respectively. Sure, they have both gone on to have several other hits but Michael’s “Thriller” and Prince’s “Purple Rain” set records and established both as music royalty.
Remember when there was a debate over who was better? I liked them both equally. Until I say the movie “Purple Rain”. When my teenage self heard Prince Rogers Nelson speak his first line I was down with Team Prince. I didn’t care if he wore heels and lace. The man was and is still sexy.
Favorite Prince song: Too many to name but at the top of the list would be “Adore”.
Favorite Michael song: Again, too many to name but at the top would be “Man in the Mirror.”
What’s your favorite Prince or Michael Jackson song?
The heroine from K. L. Brady’s “The Bum Magnet” is back bringing her trademark sass and drama to another relationship. This time Charisse is engaged to Kevin, federal agent and all around good guy. But he has a few skeletons in his own closet that are about to be revealed.
Charisse’s lack of trust leads her to jump to one wrong conclusion after another and paves the way for some hilarious mishaps. Wayward friends, deceitful family members and a conniving baby mama make for obstacles that the couple will need to overcome if they plan to make it to the wedding on time.
“Got a Right to Be Wrong” is the story of letting go of the past, trusting your heart and allowing good things to come into your life. This book is an excellent read with a character that is easy to like. I look forward to reading more from Ms. Brady.
The NBA Finals are now set. Oklahoma City Thunder versus the Miami Heat. My Lakers have long been eliminated so I will have to choose a new team to root for. That choice is really easy for me. OKC.
I’m not going to pile on the Miami Heat. Much has already been written and discussed about how Lebron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh decided to play together. I couldn’t care less. I will admit that I am not a “fan” of Lebron James. It has more to do with the way he was over-hyped coming into the League and not a reflection of his playing abilities. The man can flat out play. He is a three time MVP for a reason.
I just like Kevin Durant more. I think OKC has a better team. It would be great if they could win it. So, now we have the NBA dream match up. I can see the story lines now. The “evil free agent bought” Heat versus the “brought up in the draft nice guys” Thunder.
I am a cubicle dweller. It’s not so bad. I have three and a half walls that define my space. Sure, I have no privacy and can hear every conversation around me. But I make the best of it. I have decorated my nest with the necessary tools for motivation. Pictures of my kids.
I’ve accepted my fate as an office drone. Most days, it’s an okay existence. Other days I am forced to attend the dreaded staff meeting.
Here are my 7 Reasons Why I Hate Staff Meetings:
Being forced to sit through a two-hour meeting and only 10 minutes of the discussion affect my job.
Thinking about the “To-Do List” that sits idling on my desk.
That one co-worker that knows everything about every subject and has to expound on it for 20-30 minutes.
Let’s face it, it’s hard to appear interested in any subject for longer than 20 minutes.
Why are conference room chairs so hard?
Nothing is every decided. It is always assigned to someone to research.
And the number one, main reason I hate meeting………
7. Being forced to interact with ALL of my co-workers! (I kid, I kid. These are jokes people.)
Fellow cubicle dwellers, do you have any reasons to add?
